Why Does Canal View Have a Inquiry List?

Our goal is always to welcome new residents as soon as possible following their request for care.

There Are Two Critical Factors Impacting Our Resident Admissions Inquiry List

  1. The COVID-19 pandemic
introduced unanticipated challenges into our care environment, bringing new and rapidly changing governmental regulations. As admission and visitation protocols shift and change, our capacity to provide excellent and safe care for our residents and our staff becomes limited.  Canal View will not take on more residents than we can confidently and carefully manage. We simply cannot comprise the quality of care for the residents who are with us.
  2. Health care staffing shortages
across the state, the region, and our nation are also limiting the number of residents we can confidently and carefully manage. The ratio of staff per resident has stood at 1 staff member per 4 residents for many years. This level of resident care has earned Canal View consecutive 5-star CMS quality ratings. We cannot compromise our quality of care by admitting more residents unless we have the appropriate number of staff to care for them.

When the COVID pandemic begins to subside and health care staffing shortages diminish, Canal View will eagerly open more of its 185-bed capacity. Until then, we appreciate your patience and regular communication with our team as we work to admit residents as soon as our capacity opens up and our quality of care can be continuously ensured.
