Life Enrichment

It is the mission of the Canal View Life Enrichment Team to provide social interaction for residents and to stimulate their mental and emotional health through a variety of planned scheduled programs. The Life Enrichment Team strives to improve the quality of life of residents, no matter what their physical, emotional, social, or spiritual status is. Programs are designed for each individual resident’s abilities and interests. Some of our Life Enrichment activities include:

  • Holiday parties, socials
  • Active games
  • Exercise groups
  • Arts and crafts
  • Music entertainment
  • Various religious series
  • Baking
  • Gardening
  • Sensory stimulation
  • Spa days
  • 1:1 in room visits
  • Independent activities and more

It is the Life Enrichment Team’s goal to make every resident’s quality of life as enriching as it possibly can be while following current CDC COVID-19 guidelines. We safely provide a variety of facility outings, such as:

  • Shopping
  • Restaurants
  • Movies
  • Museums
  • Calumet Theater entertainment
  • Outdoor concerts
  • Public holiday gatherings
  • Sports games
  • Sightseeing
  • Picnics at the beach and more

Residents are encouraged to be involved with the planning and leading of group activities.  The Life Enrichment Team motivates residents to step out of their comfort zone to try new, safe and exciting activities such as “duck rides,” boat trips and more. 

Residents can visit Thairpy, a beauty parlor/barber shop with a licensed beautician. Canal View has an outside courtyard with lighting, wheelchair swing, furniture, and flowers for residents to use and enjoy during their family visits. Canal View recognizes the importance of pet therapy and provides numerous pets that live at the facility, such as dogs, cats, birds, a guinea pig and a chinchilla.
